Stepping Stone Services
Depending on your child’s needs and the results of an initial evaluation, our team creates a strategy for helping your child achieve targeted goals. We provide physical, speech, and occupational therapy utilizing 1-on1 attention and a combination of effective tools and techniques designed to engage children for optimal results. While your child enjoys what they perceive as play, each activity helps to build and develop the coordination, strength, and skills needed to meet developmental milestones and allow your child to thrive.
The purpose of physical therapy is to help children improve strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance, and coordination. Each child receives individualized care to best improve their physical abilities, reduce pain, and promote health. Regular physical therapy helps children to become more independent and confident, removing physical limitations and allowing them to interact more freely with the world around them.
While occupational therapy is largely focused on physical abilities, it differs in purpose from physical therapy. Occupational therapy specifically focuses on daily life and improving your child’s ability to perform developmentally appropriate tasks and skills. Targeting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and behavior, occupational therapy gives the children the skills they need to successfully dress themselves, write, brush their teeth, eat, play, and more.
Speech delays and disorders can be caused by a wide range of disorders and conditions including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and traumatic brain injuries. Depending on your child’s unique needs, speech therapy can be targeted to help with everything from stuttering and hearing impairment to expressive and receptive language disorders.
Methods and Therapies
We use fun therapy tools and techniques that keep children engaged and help them achieve targeted goals. From blowing bubbles in speech therapy to playing a game of operation to develop fine motor skills, children are able to develop valuable skills while they play. Below, you’ll find some of the specific methods and strategies we utilize in therapy sessions.
